Now into the fourth generation, Bosca's invaluable years of experience are clear with its four wine ranges, Finca La Linda, Luigi Bosca Reserva, the Gala Collection and Finca Los Nobles, each reflecting a consistent and superior quality, individuality, and the utmost attention to detail. At the same time, Bosca's continuous quest to raise the standard of excellence through innovation and experimentation has made it a model for Argentine wineries.
The Arizu family has been making wine in Mendoza for over 100 years and each generation has brought new ideas and energy into their family winery - Luigi Bosca - growing it into one of Argentina's leading estates. The different varietals harvested on the Luigi Bosca estates were brought from Europe in around 1890. As a result, today's vines are chosen from a selection of this old stock, as well as the natural crossings that have occurred over time. There are 6 vineyards around the town of Luján de Cuyo, south west of Mendoza, ranging from about 750m to 960m above sea level. These produce the wines for Luigi Bosca's three ranges of wine - Finca la Linda, Luigi Bosca Reserva, and Selectos de Familia Arizu (including the Gala range and Finca los Nobles).
They also have a vineyard in Cafayate in northern Argentina which lies at 1700m above sea level and is dedicated to producing the excellent Finca la Linda Torrontés, which is new to our range this year and is in the stunning new Finca la Linda packaging. The wine has floral aromas, with flavours of white peaches, orange skin and hints of sugar, balanced by crisp acidity.
Also new to our range is the single vineyard Luigi Bosca Malbec D.O.C Reserva. The Arizu family were instrumental in creating the new D.O.C. of Luján de Cuyo, with the objective of protecting and regulating the farming and production techniques of the Malbec varietal, which is native of the Luján de Cuyo region. The wine has an intense violet colour and displays ripe cherry and plum flavours with hints of spice and mocha. Hailed by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate as "One of Argentina's quality leader", Luigi Bosca's wines consistently win awards from competitions worldwide, as well as getting great reviews from independent wine critics.
The 2006 Gala 3, a brilliantly balanced blend of Chardonnay, Viognier and Riesling, was the proud recipient of one of but nine trophies awarded by such prestigious names as Jancis Robinson M.W., Oz Clarke and Anthony Rose at the first annual Argentine Wine Awards. The current 2008 vintage is equally impressive.
