Anne Forest

Michel Forest

This is probably the smallest producer on our entire list with an annual production of just 23 barrels. The now retired Michel Forest with his lovely wife Anne-Claire run this operation with a real passion and dedication. Vergisson is the highest of the five villages in the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation and the microclimate here is marginally cooler and the soil is less chalky than other areas of the region. This gives an individual style to the wines produced. Forest’s finest wine comes from the 1.2-hectare lieu-dit called Les Crays and would easily pass for a top premier cru from a more reputable region. The wine is barrel fermented and then matured in oak casks for 10 months.
