Joseph Roty
The Roty family have been producing wines in Gevrey-Chambertin since 1710 however it was the legendary Joseph Roty (tenth generation) who catapulted the domaine to stardom with his exquisite wines. Sadly Joseph died in 2008 but he has certainly left a great legacy behind him. His eldest son Philippe, who had been working with his father for many years, is now in charge of the winemaking, whilst Joseph’s younger son Pierre-Jean tends the vines, many of which are over 60 years old with a small plot dating back as far as the 1800s. His daughter runs the office. The style of the domaine is for fine, ripe and expressive wines with great structure and length. This is a cult domaine that has many followers. Words cannot describe how wonderful these wines are.
