Krug

Krug

Founder Johann-Josep Krug left an established champagne house to set up his own. Five generations on, the Krug family remains an important part of the brand. They still ferment all of their wine in small oak casks, allowing them to develop supremely rich and complex aromas, and the Krug Grand Cuvee is an icon of the wine industry.

Blended from Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay grapes, there is no formula or recipe for Krug Grand Cuvee. Each year, the Krug family meets to recreate 'their' Grand Cuvee. Described as 'Multi-Vintage,' it is a stunning mosaic of flavours in which up to 50 different wines, sourced from 20-30 different crus, from 6-10 different years combine to give Krug Grand Cuvee its complexity, elegance and consistency.

The primary fermentation in oak in conjunction with the extended lees contact of at least six years give Krug Grand Cuvee a wonderfully creamy bouquet, leading to a magical combination of richness and balance on the palate. The long, lingering finish is both nutty and toasty, always ending with a final flourish of freshness, leaving one longing for more.
