Domaine Gramenon is one of the leading producers of Côtes du Rhône, making wines that are packed full of dense, ripe red berry fruit, but without being jammy and overblown. Syrah and Grenache are used to their best in Michelle Aubery-Laurent’s red wines, with a fantastic white Côtes du Rhône Vie en y Est (Viognier) complementing the range.
The method here is to use traditional, natural means to produce wines which are as concentrated and complex as possible. The majority of their grapes come from old vines and are encouraged to achieve maximum ripeness before harvest. Sulphur dioxide is used only at assemblage, which enhances the purity of fruit, and they never filter or fine their wines.
Their wines are known for their intensity, incredible, seductive aromatics and concentration on the scale of wines from Châteauneuf-du-Pape or Hermitage. Balance, as a result of a Michelle’s keen eye for physiological ripeness, is also a hallmark.
