Sportoletti’s 20 hectares of high-density estate vineyards extend over the hills of Spello and Assisi in Umbria, where the Sportoletti family make four wines in total. For the whites, the Assisi Grechetto is a crisp and refreshing white, packed full of citrus fruit flavours and the Villa Fidelia Bianco IGT, a blend of Grechetto and Chardonnay, is aged in French oak for about four months, giving it a rich and creamy texture with tropical fruit flavours and a crisp finish. Often a Parker favourite, the Assisi Rosso has a solid backbone of Sangiovese blended with equal measures of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot and is a cuvee which can be approached early or cellared over the short-term. Finally, the Villa Fidelia Rosso IGT is a Bordeaux blend, aged for 12 months in French oak barriques and is packed full of blackberry flavours with oak spice.
