Storing wine in the correct environment and at the optimum temperature is crucial for its development and future quality. This is particularly true for investment grade wine.

Bancroft Wines offers clients secure storage in optimum conditions in our bonded warehouse in the UK. We can store wines both “duty-paid” and “in-bond”. We strongly recommend that all wines which are not for immediate drinking are stored in our facilities to ensure they mature in ideal conditions.To open an account, fill out the Private Reserves form here and email, fax or post it back to us.

Charges

Our storage facilities are based in London City Bond (LCB) in Tilbury Docks, a well established warehouse with over 130 years experience. We have our own secure storage area within LCB’s Chill Store, a temperature controlled facility.Your wines will be stored in a separate and identifiable section within our storage area. Each case of wine is identified by a unique rotation number for identification and to provide a clear audit trail to you, the owner. Client wines are held off balance sheet and so do not form part of Bancroft’s inventory. The security is assured and you will receive a yearly statement and valuation of your wines. The charges for storage in our facilities are; £7.95 per case per year + VAT, these charges include insurance (provided by LCB) at the replacement value, not purchased price (see below).Charges will be levied in advance on a pro-rata basis when wines are transferred into your private reserves account. The minimum charge is 1 year. You will then be invoiced on an annual basis in January. If you wish to transfer wines into your Bancroft private reserves account from another facility you should provide the following delivery address:

Insurance

Wine stored by Bancroft Wines is covered London City Bond’s insurance policy and is insured to full replacement value.London City Bond terms and conditions of trading can be found here.

Delivery

Bancroft Wines will arrange delivery of your wine to any UK address at your request. Requests must be made in writing, either by email, fax or by post. All deliveries will be made on our behalf by London City Bond and will be charged to you at cost. Please contact us for more details. All deliveries must be signed for as proof of receipt. If any wine as delivered to you is subject to shortages, damage or errors you must note this on the delivery note or otherwise inform Bancroft Wines within 48 hours of the time of delivery (or on the next working day if the delivery takes place on a Friday or preceding a bank holiday) and give details of such shortages, errors or damage. You will be subject to the LCB Terms of Carriage which can be found here.
