A consistent producer of phenomenal, Riojas of both traditional and modern styles, Bodegas LAN deserves this tribute through its painstaking attention to detail, its active focus on the quality of their prime material and the skillful management of a complex system for oak ageing.

All the wines above Gran Reserva level are made with grapes grown entirely on their stunning 70-hectare estate vineyard, Viña Lanciano, originally planted by the Romans, and around which the River Ebro gently meanders. The Crianza and Reserva wines are made with grapes from local growers with whom LAN has developed long standing relationships and whom they pay double the market rate to ensure lower yields as well as the licence to monitor the vineyards very closely.

Bodegas LAN was founded in 1972 and named after the initials of the 3 provinces in the Rioja Designation of Origin: Logroño (now La Rioja), Álava and Navarra and is located in the heart of Rioja Alta, which is synonymous with tradition and prestige. Inundated by rave reviews internationally and the excellent quality 2004 & 2005 vintages, Bodegas LAN can do no wrong. The pinnacle of the range, Culmen Reserva, achieving 96/100 Points in Wine Spectator, shows the heights the Estate regularly reaches. The Ediciòn Limitada breaks the mould of traditional "woody Rioja" style and packs a modern punch; with deeper colour & more character extracted from the skins, it spends less time in barrel than the Crianza. The variety and difference between the LAN Riojas is a huge strength, with the single vineyard Viña Lanciano Reserva at the more delicate, fragrant end of the spectrum. The Crianza and Reserva are LANs (thoroughbred) work horses and reliably out perform their peers. They have developed a very solid following over the course of many superb vintages and display great depth, maturity and complexity with well balanced, integrated tannins.
