Bull Trader Cabernet Merlot 2004
The soft approachable structure and almost perfumed fruit characters in a fine medium bodied Coonawarra dry red. The use of very tight grained, older oak has given length and complexity without dominating the plumy Merlot fruit. This wine shows classic finesse of Coonawarra allowing it to show its best when still quite youthful. Time in the bottle will see even more complexity with the development of cedary and
violet like characters. |
Bull Trader Shiraz 2004
The soft approachable structure and ethereal fruit characters are derived in part from Coonawarra’s cool climate and partly from a intentionally lower, and somewhat ‘old fashioned’, alcohol content. The use of very tight-grained oak has given length and complexity without dominating the delicate fruit. Time in the bottle will see even more complexity with the development of cedary and violet like characters. Its good level of natural acidity will see that this wine ages slowly and gracefully. |
Sauvignon Blanc 2007
The very cool and dry growing season has yielded a wine with plenty of cool climate herbal notes along with the riper fruit salad character. The use of very tight grained and lightly toasted oak has given softness and
richness with dominating the delicate Sauvignon Blanc fruit. The stirring on yeast lees or 'batonage' is displayed in the savoury characters and the creamy structure. |

The Reschke family recently celebrated its centenary in Coonawarra, where they started out as cattle graziers, while gradually converting the best plots to vineyards. The bovine heritage is celebrated in the Latin names of the wines, “Bos” meaning “bull” and “Vitulus” meaning “bull calf ”, but the attention to detail goes much further. Peter Douglas, Chief Winemaker for Wynns Coonawarra for 16 years, is responsible for turning perfect grapes into classic Coonawarra wines, with soft structure, concentrated fruit and fine balance. The new release Bull Trader wines are a very exciting addition to the Reschke range as is the limited production Fumé Blanc which is also sealed under a highly innovative glass closure. |
