Bodegas Arrocal is located in the small village of Gumiel de Mercado at an altitude of 830m. The winery is run by husband and wife team Rosa and Moisés. With 40-year-old vines and their fabulous state-of-the-art winery they are producing beautiful, modern Ribera del Duero year after year. They currently have 33 hectares of vineyards with 29ha of tempranillo (tinta del país), 2ha of Cabernet, 1ha of Merlot and 1ha of Albillo.
Both the AC Joven and the Arrocal represent great value for money and provide a juicy, black fruit profile with well integrated tannins. The AC Joven undergoes no oak ageing so is dominated by bright and juicy fruit, whilst the Arrocal spends six months in a mix of mostly French barrels with a small influence from American oak, giving it extra depth and complexity, with opulent mulberry fruit and a touch of vanilla. The Arrocal is consistently given 90+ points from Robert Parker, Wine Advocate.
