The A.F. Gros domaine was established in 1988 by Jean’s daughter Anne-François when the Gros family domaine was split in four parts. Anne-François has inherited around four hectares of vineyards including precious holdings in Echézeaux and Richebourg. Since then, together with her husband François Parent, she has managed to increase the size of the domaine and acquire vineyards in Pommard, Savigny-lès-Beaune and Flagey-Echézeaux. François Parent is today in charge of winemaking at the A.F.Gros domaine. He insists on strict selection of grapes, the bunches are 100% de-stemmed and there is 10 days cuvaison at 30°C. The village wines are aged in 50% new oak.
The wines produced at this superstar domaine are not about power but more seduction and purity. They are poised and polished, offer supreme class and will bring a broad smile to the face of any Pinot Noir aficionado. The Hautes Côtes de Nuits from A.F Gros is an absolutely stunning example and tasted blind it would easily pass for a top notch Vosne Romanée. If you can resist their undoubted youthful charm they will no doubt improve and continue to delight for many years.
