“Winemaker Yves Bretonnière makes wonderfully classic Muscadet from his 30 acres of prime vineyard situated in the village of La Févrie. The plots are positioned on the slopes of the Maine and Sèvre rivers, a few miles east of Nantes. The terroir consists of two types of soil: light, pebbly soil (which produces young wines which mature rapidly) and the heavier clay soil (which produces wines that mature more slowly, with more body and greater length on the palate). Although not certified organic, they do not use any chemicals on their vineyards and follow the lutte raisonnée like many producers in the Loire region.
The wine is consistently fresh, crisp and dry with an almost biscuity quality. This, together with the grapefruit and lime flavour profile, makes this wine a perfect match for oysters, scallops and most shellfish.”
