There is little doubt that this is the finest estate in St Aubin. Olivier Lamy, who took over from his father in 1996, makes outstanding wines and is increasingly admired by winemakers all over the region – his wines are superior to many wines from more fashionable appellations that sell at double the price. Oliver’s vineyards stretch out across the Côte de Beaune with sites in Puligny, Chassagne and Santenay and he was very happy this year when we visited as he had bought some Criots Bâtard Montrachet vines! Although not certified Olivier has been practising organic viticulture for all his wines since 2007, and he rarely sits still always looking to improve both viti- and vinicultural practices. Expression of minerality from specific sites drive Olivier and make for white wines of sheer class – pure, precise and refined. They are heaven for the true Burgundy connoisseur.
