This family-run estate located in Loazzolo, Italy’s smallest DOC in Asti’s Alta Langa region, produces an award-winning range of biodynamic and organic wines. The Isolabella della Croce family ties with their land, which lies within a UNESCO protected area, stretch back over many generations. Their passion and pride for the terroir translates to the delicacy and elegance which distinguish their wines. The combination of the south-facing vineyards, enriching sea breezes, steep slopes and predominantly marne soil gives the grapes a unique concentrated quality. From vines situated on the highest point of the vineyard, the Isolabella Sauvignon evokes an intense bouquet of white flowers together with a distinct freshness and minerality. Elsewhere on the estate the climatic conditions of Loazzolo DOC fulfill the tricky requirements of Pinot Nero and lend the Bricco del Falco, made up of 100% Pinot Nero, notable finesse. A good balance of tannin and acidity is complemented by notes of rose, violet, ripe cherry and strawberry making the Bricco del Falco a truly refined wine. The Le Marne (an unusual blend of Barbera, Nebbiolo and Dolcetto) pays homage to the typical aromas of Piedmont. A good structure supports this harmonious palate balanced with ripe red fruits, herbaceous notes and a pleasant tanginess.
