2013 Bruno Giacosa: ‘The Henri Jayer of Piemonte’ TA

There is only one Bruno Giacosa. No one will ever make wines like these – It’s as simple as that.” Antonio Galloni

I can think of no Italian producer whose wines have given me as much pleasure as the Barbarescos and Barolos from Bruno Giacosa. He is one of a handful of producers whose wines I will purchase without tasting them firstRobert Parker

Giacosa Barolo

What better way to start the day than with some rather nice Italian red wines… I am delighted to offer a handful of the newly released wines from one of the best wine estates in the world – Bruno Giacosa. Few wine producers anywhere in the world have done so much to put their region on the map, with wines of unrivalled individuality and brilliance. Legendary oenologist Dante Scaglione returned to the estate in 2011. He was responsible for some of the legendary Giacosas of the past and vintages since 2011 see a real return to form of this legendary estate, under the careful management of Bruno’s daughter, Bruna.

2014 Barbaresco, Bruno Giacosa

This is predominantly from declassified Asili fruit. Giacosa has a very successful 2014 and will be releasing red label Riservas from Asili and Rocche del Falletto in a few years. “Only after some time did we recognize the rare structural potential of 2014″ Bruna Giacosa

“Hailing from the sandy soils of Asili, this harmonious wine is all about fragrance and elegance. Beautiful floral notes of violets and rose petals with fresh, tart red berries begin to seduce. The fruit blossoms on the palate exhibiting lovely notes of raspberry infused liquorice. There is great structure here, with tannins which are delightfully supple, approachable and integrated. Prodigious length on the finish leaves you yearning for more.” Producer Note

2013 Barolo Falletto Vigna Le Rocche, Bruno Giacosa

““This is incredibly powerful and structured with so much tannin backbone and ripe fruit. Aromas of plums and hazelnuts. Full-bodied and chewy. Fabulous finish. Needs three to four years to come together. Great wine. No Falleto was made in 2013. Only Le Rocche.”  97 points James Suckling

Both of these wines offer a very different proposition – Wines are offered subject to remaining unsold – So please let me know ASAP if you’d like to secure a case or two of this fantasic wines.
