2017 Seña, Valle de Aconcagua: “One of the best Señas yet” TA

“This is perhaps one of the most complete and definitive versions of Seña that we have crafted so far” Francisco Baettig – Chief Winemaker

99 Points 2017 Seña, Valle de Aconcagua, James Suckling

We are delighted to release the latest vintage of Seña, from 2017.

Originally a joint venture by Robert Mondavi and Eduardo Chadwick, with the aim of producing an international icon, this is one of the finest and most elegant releases of this wine to date. Made predominantly from Cabernet Sauvignon with Carmenère and Malbec, and smaller proportions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, Seña is inspired by Grand Cru Bordeaux but its soul is very much in Chile. Located 40 km from the Pacific Ocean, the Seña vineyard was converted to biodynamic principles over a decade ago in order to achieve the highest expression of terroir from this unique location.

Intense and silky textured with lovely length, Chief Winemaker Francisco Baettig describes the 2017 as “perhaps one of the most complete and definitive versions of Seña that we have crafted so far”. James Suckling describes the 2017 as a wine of “harmony and balance” and scores it an almost perfect 99 points while Tim Atkin says this is “One of the best Señas yet.”

Offered at a lower price than the previous release, 2017 was one of the smallest vintages of Seña ever produced so stock is limited.

There are a small number of large formats, subject to availability, so please contact us as soon as possible if you wish to place an order.

“The aromas of blackberries, cedar, sandalwood and black tea are compelling. Black olives. Rosemary and sage undertones. Full-bodied, rich and powerful Seña with impressive and powerful tannins, yet harmony and balance. Fruit-forward. Lightly chewy. Fresh and energetic wine in a hot year. Broad-shouldered. Drink after 2022” 99 points, James Suckling

“Showing layers of berry fruit, cedarwood, vanilla spice and tannic grip, it’s concentrated yet balanced with impressive freshness and vibrancy and top notes of violets and wild herbs. One of the best Señas yet” 96 points, Tim Atkin
