2018 Château Sénéjac
We are delighted to offer a true Bancroft favourite, the wonderful Château Sénéjac.
This estate consistently produces wines of excellent value and 2018 is no exception. In fact, this year Château Sénéjac has been listed in Antonio Galloni’s ‘Favourite affordable under the radar wines of 2018’.
This lovely estate was purchased back in 1999 by Lorraine Cordier, the then owner of Château Talbot. Since Lorraine’s death, Sénéjac has been managed by her sister Nancy Bignon Cordier with operations overseen by Alfred Tesseron and his team from Château Pontet Canet. There are 39ha of vineyard, in a single block, planted with 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot, with an average vine age of 35 years.
Château Sénéjac has always offered exceptional value for money, given the quality of the wine produced in 2018 and its relatively early drinking window – this really is a must buy for any keen claret drinker.
“The 2018 Senejac is deep garnet-purple colored with a nose of warm berries, earth, herbs and tobacco plus floral notions. The palate is full-bodied and rich with fine-grained tannins, nice freshness and good length” 90-92 points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown
“The 2018 Sénéjac is powerful, racy and super-expressive. Floral and savory notes add striking shades of nuance to the dark fruit as this gorgeous Haut-Médoc opens in the glass. Pliant and rich in the glass, with striking aromatic top notes Sénéjac is brilliant in 2018. Best of all, it should be tremendous value” 89-91 points, Antonio Galloni
“The purity of the fruit is very pretty with so much blueberry and blackcurrant character. Medium-to full-bodied. Both the acidity and the tannins are bright and fresh” 92-93 points, James Suckling
