Mornington Peninsula’s Finest: 2015 Single Vineyard Offer, Ten Minutes By Tractor

“Outstanding wines of the highest quality; often with a distinguished pedigree – Five Red Star Winery” James Halliday, Halliday Wine Companion

We are delighted to offer the hotly anticipated 2015 single vineyard wines from Ten Minutes By Tractor. Each and every release is praised highly by James Halliday’s Wine Guide, he normally awards TMBT a 5-Star status and all of their single vineyard wines score in the high 90’s – I must point out Halliday is yet to publish his scores for the 2015’s, but after tasting these wines I am left in no doubt they will be very good indeed.

Ten Minutes by Tractor dates back to 2000 when the owners made their first wine with the widely respected Mornington Peninsula. Since 2004 the estate has been under the direction of Martin Spedding, during this time TMBT has become a cult winery, and very well respected among our clients and the critics alike.

The name “Ten Minutes by Tractor” came about because the original three “home” vineyards (McCutcheon, Wallis and Judd) were ten minutes by tractor away from each other. These vineyards are all situated within the Main Ridge sub region, one of the coolest and highest parts of the Mornington Peninsula. Despite the close proximity of the three original vineyards and the same vinification methods, the single vineyard wines are distinctly different from one another. This is a result of their different elevations, orientations and soils.

These wines can challenge Burgundy in terms of quality, elegance and range from fine and elegant to richer and more opulent. They are all a true expression of the unique ‘terroir’. Indeed Martin truly believes that “provenance is the essential element of our wine.” TMBT produce these much sought after single vineyard wines only in outstanding years and 2015 must certainly ticks all the boxes!

Ten Minutes by Tractor ‘McCutcheon’ Chardonnay 2015
10 cases only

“This  is sensational. It’s fleshy, flavoursome and easygoing and yet, when it finishes, it’s brilliantly persistent. Not lean, but searing. Not fat, but loaded with oatmeal, yellow stone fruit and sweet, creamy, cedary oak. It’s generious for the most part but savvy enough to stash away a few tricks for a later date; despite the flesh, it’s taut – Drink to 2023” Producer Note

2014 – 17/20 Richard Hemming MW

Ten Minutes by Tractor ‘McCutcheon’ Pinot Noir 2015
10 cases only
“Fairly restrained and taut on the palate – this is clearly a very junior version of its future self. Much lighter in body than the Stonier Windmill – a subtle and delicate style, with soft tannin and a long, light finish – Drink to 2027”  17+/20 Richard Hemming MW

Ten Minutes by Tractor ‘Judd’ Chardonnay 2015
10 cases only

“The Judd Chardonnay delivers soft aromas of toast, apricots, cashews and hint of ginger and a touch of honeysuckle. Medium-bodied, baking spice and honeyed stone fruit flavors are tightly packed around a crisp acid spine with a lovely fresh, creamy texture and good long finish.– Drink to 2024” Producer Note

2013 – 18/20 Julia Harding MW

Ten Minutes by Tractor ‘Judd’ Pinot Noir 2015
10 cases only

“Light in colour, but there it ends – This wine is savoury, pretty and totally irresistible. It tastes mostly of crushed dry leaves, woody spices, smoky oak and forest notes, though a sweet, strawberry exuberance keeps a lovely freshness. It’s satiny, sweet and savoury all at once; A glorious pinot noir – Drink to 2026” Producer Note

Ten Minutes by Tractor ‘Coolart Road’ Pinot Noir 2015
10 cases only
“A deep powerful – flavoured wine. Stewed black cherries, leafy spice and smoke-like notes pull the curtain tight against brighter, strawberry notes. Tannins are firm; it’s not the easiest wine initially but has a delightful beauty and looks very good for the future – Drink to 2028” Producer Note

2013 – 18.5/20 Julia Harding MW
